Kanela

We hit up Kanela for a late breakfast/lunch near the apartment in Streeterville, and it did the job. Solid food across the board, even if it wasn’t the prettiest meal ever.

What We Ordered

• I had the cheddar and smoked ham omelette – hot, flavorful, and satisfying

• Staci went with a Benedict featuring veggie meat – creative sub and it worked

• Anthony had the chicken BLT, which he knocked out quickly, so no complaints there either

The food quality was solid, and we left happy, but the presentation felt a little thrown together—not a deal-breaker, just not something you’d be rushing to photograph.

The Verdict

Kanela is a reliable local spot for breakfast or brunch. Nothing overly fancy, but the food hits, and it’s convenient when you’re nearby. Worth keeping in the rotation when you just want something tasty and unfussy.
