Blue Sushi Sake Grill

Blue Sushi Sake Grill

We rolled into Blue Sushi Sake Grill with a big group, mid-celebration for Staci’s birthday. Spirits were high, cocktails had been flowing (before we even got to the restaurant, if we’re being honest), and we were looking for something fun, energetic, and easy to share. Blue delivered on the vibe.

The space is upbeat—modern, a little clubby, but still comfortable. It’s not trying to be a serious sushi bar, and that’s okay. This isn’t omakase; it’s more of a “let’s eat good food, laugh a lot, and not worry too much about the details” kind of place.

What We Ate

We started with some basics—charred edamame and shishito peppers—both solid openers. Simple, well-seasoned, and good for a group nibble while we got settled.

The sushi itself? Decent. Not mind-blowing, not forgettable. Fish was fresh, rolls were creative without being over-the-top, and everything came out in a timely flow that kept the table happy. This isn’t going to challenge your top-tier sushi memories, but for a lively group night, it totally works.

Gluten-Free Notes

We had a few gluten-free folks in the group, and the staff handled it really well. Clear answers, gluten-free soy sauce ready to go, and a level of confidence that made it easy to relax and enjoy the meal. That goes a long way when you’re dining with dietary restrictions.

The One Miss

Now let’s talk about the coconut sake—and by talk, I mean admit our mistake. That was on us. Too sweet, too artificial, and one of those things you taste, laugh about, and then immediately set aside. But again—not the restaurant’s fault. Just a reminder that not all sake needs a flavor profile.

The Verdict

Blue Sushi Sake Grill is the kind of spot that gets the job done. It’s fun, friendly, and knows how to handle a large party without skipping a beat. If you’re looking for a night of polished but not fussy sushi, cocktails, and a high-energy crowd, it fits the bill.

Would I go again? For sure—with the right crew, the right mood, and definitely a different sake.
