Gage
We went to The Gage last minute—not planned, just one of those nights where we rolled the dice—and it totally paid off. Everyone at the table walked away happy, which is always a win.
Starters
We kicked things off with oysters and the beet salad—both solid. The oysters were fresh and clean, and the beet salad had a nice balance of sweetness and acidity. Nothing overly fancy, just well-executed and easy to enjoy.
MaI had the pan-seared grouper (a special), and it was a standout. Crispy skin, perfectly cooked, and paired with a sauce that actually added something without stealing the show.
Anthony went the classic route with the burger, which looked great and disappeared fast—so I’ll take that as a good sign. Staci ordered the summer salad, which was light, bright, and exactly what she was hoping for.
The Verdict
The Gage is a great option when you want a comfortable, upscale-ish meal without going full fine dining. Service was efficient, the space feels warm but not formal, and the menu has enough range to please just about anyone.
This wasn’t a “wow” meal—but it didn’t need to be. It was exactly what we needed: good food, last-minute, no stress.
