Roister
Roister surprised us—and in the best way.
We started with East Coast oysters in a tart sauce. Anthony thought they were interesting, but they didn’t quite deliver that classic oyster flavor. Honestly, up until the mains arrived, I wasn’t sure it was going to be worth it.
And then the food hit—and it completely flipped the experience.
The Food
The mains were the showstoppers. Deep flavor, serious technique, and the kind of comfort food that punches way above its weight. The open-fire kitchen energy came through in every bite. You could tell this place was built around bold, confident cooking—and it delivered.
The Vibe
Loud, warm, a little wild. You’re close to the action and the food reflects that. It’s not white tablecloth—it’s controlled chaos in the best way.
The Twist
Roister has since closed and is currently being reimagined as part of a new concept from the Alinea Group. As of now, it’s not coming back in its original form.
The Verdict
We caught it just in time—and I’m glad we did. Roister had that special mix of high-end skill with casual, unfiltered energy. The kind of spot where the main courses make the whole night worth it.
